The old Heindorfer School was pulled down around 1965. Apart from all sorts of junk at the attic the school chronicles came to light. Teachers had documented since 1895 the year's cycle. But nobody could read the historical letters and different handwritings. What to do? Take the chronicles to Wahlsdorf to its history teacher at the Zentralschule! This was how it started, forty years ago. Further chronicles arrived and private deeds. I wrote everything down and returned the originals. More documents reached me this way. always at the end of the year I record everything that has changed in the last twelve months in the Zentralschule's five villages (Wahlsdorf, Heinsdorf, Niebendorf, Liepe and Buckow) as well as in Petkus and Ließen. I hope I have aroused your interest and wish you lots of fun reading, remembering or reflecting.

The love of homeland and nature was put in my cradle in a forester's lodge on the Hohen Fläming. This great affinity was the basis for my professional life as a forester. It accompanied me throughout my life. It urged me to write about my personal experiences and new insights, which I could deepen with many expert quotations. I want to thank all those friends who encouraged me. With my notes I want to convey knowledge from our Markish homeland to nature lovers and encourage them see our beautiful nature with more expertise and so discover the known anew. Not only local people shall get this advice but also former citizens of our district Teltow-Fläming shall be reminded of their old homeland. Non-locals shall receive suggestions to discover this part of Germany as tourists.
