Heimattierpark Dahme / Mark (Native Animal Park)
image author: city-map Teltow Fläming The Palace Park was originally created in the 19th century as an 'English Garden'. At the north side is the ruin of the once splendid baroque palace. situated.
With an area of 7,5 ha the animal park inside the palace park is also ideal for a walk.
A fallow deer enclosure was built in year 1901 and the Dahme animal park opened.
In the fifties different small animal enclosures were constructed. The palace park was listed in 1985.
image author: city-map Teltow Fläming Ca 120 animals of 27 species are being kept today in different enclosures as for example miniature donkeys, dwarf goats, Cameroon sheep, wild boars, fallow deer but also other animal species as for instance lama, Capuchin monkeys and other exotic animals.
image author: city-map Teltow Fläming The Kulturverein Dahme/Mark e.V. strives since 1996 to conserve the Native Animal Park.
For that purpose an animal park festival takes place annually at Whitsun and in line with the extensive programme animal sponsorships are being awarded for one year.
This sponsorship assures the care, support and feed of the sponsored animal for a year as an expression of shared responsibility. Everybody can become a animal sponsor.
