The museum opened on the 01.11.95 on the occasion of the 116th birthday of Oscar Barnack. It is situated at the former school building of the community Lynow. The life and work of the pioneer of the miniature camera is being depicted at the museum.
The exhibition encompasses five sections:
the life and work of O. Barnack
the development from camera to building the Leica
taking photographs with the Leica
the Leica-Factory in Solms near Wetzlar
and cameras and their development
Special objects of interests are original sketches by O. Barnack, a copy of the original-Leica from 1914 as well as some photographs taken by him.
It is the concern to research the life of Oscar Barnack further and to extend the exhibition constantly in co-operation with the Leica-factory.
