The small town Golßen

Golßen is a small town in the Niederlausitz. It is situated in the state of Brandenburg, district Dahme-Spreewald and is official seat of the Golßener Land.
The districts Altgolßen, Landwehr and Prierow belong to Golßen as well as the villages Mahlsdorf and Zützen with the communities Gersdorf and Sagritz.

The town developed in the 12th century. The oldest preserved certificate from the town Golßen stems from the year 1276.
The form of the town shows a village built around a village green with a marketplace in the centre.
The city centre is coined by noble houses, built around 1900, the town hall a brick building in neo-gothic style and the neo-classical church.

The distance pillar at the Lindenplatz with the distance data "IX Meilen bis Berlin" and the Brandenburg coat of arms remembers the building of the road Berlin-Cottbus in the year 1843.
